As a true product of his environment and a native New Yorker, Jon grew up surrounded by the classic inspirations of the 80s and 90s, an era of a certain nostalgia infused with street culture, where music, skateboarding and fashion collided. At just 8 years old with some neighborhood friends, Jon started customizing shirts and hats inspired by the influence of style laden families moving to his block from the 5 boroughs.
While working on Wall Street as a stockbroker, Jon accumulated a 500+ pair sneaker collection of very rare finds. He later decided to utilize his natural eye for design and his acute attention to detail to leave finance and join the design world.
Jon was recruited to work on special projects for DC Shoe Co, where he helped build the DC Black Water, Connoisseur and Lifestyle Collections. After DC, he worked as Creative Director for Lotto USA, the Italian tennis and soccer brand, Brand Director for Oliver Peoples and Co-Founded of his first independent brand, GOURMET.
He then launched his eponymous line, BUSCEMI in Los Angeles, California. A limited range of hand-crafted Italian-made leather sneakers were presented in Paris and over 600 pairs were distributed globally to a select group of well-known retailers, such as Colette in Paris and Kith in NYC. Through word-of-mouth, social media and Jon’s loyal following, the debut release of BUSCEMI sold out worldwide within days.
